Changing human behaviour

April the 22nd is a big day for our earth. Why? Because it’s Earth Day.

The first Earth Day was on 22nd April in 1970 and saw 20 million Americans, from all walks of life, come together as one; it is said that this was when the modern environmental movement really got started.

Earth Day’s mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.

Today the Earth Day network is the world’s largest enlister to the environmental movement, working with more than 50,000 partners in nearly 195 countries to build environmental agreement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest community activity in the world.

The theme of Earth Day 2018 is to end plastic pollution. At iYFA we are keen to do our part in protecting our earth, and our eco boxes, which are 28 times more environmentally friendly than a plastic bag, are now becoming part of life in Chiswick.

If you would like to get involved and help save our planet then please do join us on Sunday 22nd April on Turnham Green, as the Friends of Turnham Green, along with Abundance London and Hounslow Cycling Campaign are organising a picnic. There are all sorts of events including a Tree Talk, bike ride, free seeds and free elderflower cordial (bring your own cup).

The picnic runs from 12 noon to 2.00pm.

There is only one rule: you are forbidden from bringing any single use plastic.

iYFA supports Trees for Cities and by downloading the iYFA App you will be helping to plant trees in our cities.
You can find out more about Earth Day here.

Please do come and find us, say hello and get your free ecoSHOPPER box. We’ll be easy to spot as we will be the people with armfuls of Eco boxes.
